Under this agreement, the U.S. government will allocate 50 million USD to support education reforms in the country over the next five years. 19.5 million dollars have been already allocated.

Activities funded through this agreement will be implemented in close cooperation with the government of Uzbekistan and will be aimed at improving the results of reading and math in primary schools, using information technology and teaching English. In particular, the project will assist the Ministry of Public Education in creating a science-based strategy for implementing the IT Nation initiative, aimed at improving students’ knowledge and skills in information technology.

In addition to assisting the Ministry of Public Education in introducing modern teaching methods, this USAID Agency project will help implement the English Speaking Nation program, aimed at improving English language teaching in Uzbekistan schools. American partners will allocate another five million dollars for this purpose.
