Uzbekistan, Latvia discuss inter-parliamentary cooperation development issues

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Latvia Kadambay Sultanov met with the Chairman of the Saeima Group of the Republic of Latvia for promoting cooperation with the Oliy Majls of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the Economic, Agricultural, Environmental and Regional Policy Committee, Romāns Naudiņš.
On January 29, 2020, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Latvia Kadambay Sultanov met with the Chairman of the Saeima Group of the Republic of Latvia for promoting cooperation with the Oliy Majls of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the Economic, Agricultural, Environmental and Regional Policy Committee, Romāns Naudiņš.
Views were exchanged on prospects for cooperation between parliaments of the two countries in view of renewal of the composition of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan following the recent elections to the Legislative Chamber and the Senate. The schedule and agenda of the upcoming contacts on inter-parliamentary line were also discussed.
Romāns Naudiņš expressed his readiness as the head of the Friendship Group to support the growing cooperation between Latvia and Uzbekistan in every possible way. The importance of forming a similar group in the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the near future was noted.
The establishment of inter-parliamentary friendship and cooperation groups on a mutual basis is stipulated by the Framework Memorandum of Cooperation between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia of September 2012.
