On November 30, Tashkent will host the Second Global Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis reports.
The event is expected to be attended by about 100 heads and representatives of foreign parliaments, international inter-parliamentary organizations, and foreign experts.
In this regard, a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the forum was held in the Senate. The meeting was attended by members of the Organizing Committee, the Parliamentary Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of National Goals and Objectives in Sustainable Development, senators, deputies, heads of ministries and agencies, and non-governmental non-profit organizations. The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva.
At the meeting, the current state of preparation for the Second Global Forum, organizational issues related to the event, the agenda of the forum, its content, and the organization of bilateral meetings with delegations of foreign countries were discussed. Algorithms for interaction between ministries and agencies responsible for organizing the event at a high level have also been defined.
The tasks of a thorough, comprehensive study of the draft Tashkent Communiqué and the UN General Assembly Resolution on expanding the participation of civil society in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, which will be adopted following the forum, were identified.
