Uzbekistan, India strengthen cooperation in fashion industry

Cultural Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India, as well as the official advisor to the festival this year, Ritu Beri, has presented her “Ferghana Fantasy II” fashion collection.
On February 2, within the framework of Surajkund Mela festival, where Uzbekistan participates as a partner country, the Cultural Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India, as well as the official advisor to the festival this year, Ritu Beri, presented “Ferghana Fantasy II” fashion collection.
The collection has got its name from Fergana region in Uzbekistan, which is known worldwide for its ikat. Fergana still carefully preserves the unique traditions of production of fabrics that are passed down from generation to generation.
The goal of Ritu Beri’s show was to unite India and Uzbekistan by merging cultures using fabric and images. 30 costumes presented at the show were sewn from Indian fabrics and Uzbek ikat, decorated with different types of embroideries.
Ritu Beri has been to Uzbekistan more than once and is fascinated by the local culture and identity.
The open-air show brought together about 1000 guests, including representatives of the Indian government, senior officials of the state of Haryana, the diplomatic corps, the media, cultural and art figures.
Deputy Minister for Tourism of the State of Haryana Vijay Vardhan noted that guests were impressed by the bright colorful show, the collection of Ritu Beri, so skillfully combining the elements of the heritage of Uzbekistan and India. Ritu Beri once again confirmed her talent and devotion to the rapprochement of cultures.
