09:47 / 2023-01-27

A meeting of the Parliamentary Commission of the Oliy Majlis on compliance with the international human rights obligations of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. The participants discussed the important tasks facing the Parliamentary Commission in the Year of Human Care and Quality Education.

The First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission Akmal Saidov addressed the meeting.

– Human rights are above all. One of the important issues is the deep introduction to our Constitution and laws, into our daily life of the principle “First of all – a person, and then society and the state”, it is also necessary to expand the scale and increase the efficiency of work carried out in this direction. In this regard, the commission must set itself several goals. There is also a need for increasing the role of Parliament in accelerating the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, this is due to ensuring the participation of women in parliamentary activities, making important decisions at all levels based on equality, and developing sustainable and comprehensive recovery strategies to accelerate the full implementation of the 2030 sustainable development agenda, – Mr. Akmal Saidov said. – Increasing the effectiveness of efforts to achieve sustainable development goals is an important area of the Commission’s activities.
