The UN Representative highly appreciates the scale of reforms in Uzbekistan

Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova participated in several events and essential meetings organized at the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the United Nations.

The Ombudsman met with Diene Keita, Deputy Executive Director, Programme of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in New York.

Diene Keita congratulated the Uzbekistan people on the 33rd anniversary of the country’s independence and noted the depth and scale of reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years. A positive assessment was given of the activities carried out in the country to ensure human rights, including gender equality, social support for the population, especially young people, and protection of women from family violence.

Plans for cooperation were outlined at the Ombudsman’s meeting with Nigina Abaszada, UNFPA Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, on February 14, 2024.

Diene Keita expressed interest in implementing these plans and strengthening cooperation.

At the meeting, which took place in a sincere and friendly atmosphere, priority areas for further cooperation were identified.
