The IAEA to allocate about 2 million euros in 2022-2023 for the implementation of projects in Uzbekistan

The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has approved four new national projects worth 1.9 million euros to be implemented in 2022-2023 in Uzbekistan.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Vienna, the projects are aimed at increasing the national potential for the development of the nuclear infrastructure of Uzbekistan, strengthening the regulatory framework for the nuclear industry being created, building up the material and technical base of a specialized laboratory in Navoi, as well as assisting in the creation of nuclear medicine in Andijan region.

The projects by the Uzbek side will be implemented by the Uzatom Agency of the Ministry of Energy, the State Committee for Industrial Safety and the Ministry of Health, as well as JSC Navoi State Metallurgical Plant.
