On September 5, the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the support of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, held a force phase of the joint anti-terrorist exercise of the competent authorities of the Commonwealth “East-Antiterror 2024” at a military training ground.
The objectives of the maneuvers were to improve the activities of the competent authorities of the CIS member states during joint events to identify and prevent terrorist attacks, neutralize terrorist threats to border security, and suppress mass riots.
The heads and representatives of the competent authorities of the SCO and CIS member states, as well as observers from authorized structures of interested international organizations, were invited to the anti-terrorist exercise.
As part of practicing scenarios for freeing hostages and neutralizing simulated terrorists at critical infrastructure facilities, special and military equipment, including aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles, were used.
The events involved special units of the State Security Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard, the Ministry of Defense, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Observers were shown elements of a special military operation to block and destroy illegal armed formations of a terrorist nature, as well as measures to suppress mass riots and resolve crises.
The exercise demonstrated a high level of training of the forces and means involved in neutralizing simulated terrorist groups, as well as the coherence of the actions of the ministries and agencies involved.
The joint anti-terrorist exercise “East-Antiterror 2024” showed the importance of a system of practical interaction between the special services of the Commonwealth states. The maneuvers contributed to improving experience in planning, preparing, and conducting joint anti-terrorist activities, allowed the development of forms and methods of coordinated actions to identify and suppress terrorist acts, and ensured public order.
The current exercise was the twentieth in a number of such events held under the auspices of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS member states, in 6 of which the Republic of Uzbekistan took part.
In general, the events left positive impressions on the participants and observers. The high level of organization and professionalism of the special units’ personnel and representatives of other agencies were noted.
