A roundtable discussion timed to International Archives Day, celebrated on June 9, was held at the Uzarchive Agency.
The online event, organized with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy, was attended by the heads of archival authorities of China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The International Archives Day was established by the General Assembly of the International Council on Archives (ICA) in 2007 in Quebec. In 1948, the ICA was founded by UNESCO. For the first time, the holiday was held in 2008 and coincided with the 60th anniversary of the council’s founding.
Uzarchive Agency has been a full member of the International Council on Archives since 2009. At the event, the heads of state archival departments provided information about the achievements in archival work, problems, and solutions. The participants discussed proposals to strengthen cooperation between the archival departments of the SCO countries and the organization of mutual visits of delegations. Issues of organizing exhibitions of archival documents and preparing joint publications and catalogs were considered.
