Tashkent hosted the 8th International Scientific-Practical Conference of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), dedicated to the most urgent and acute issues of countering modern challenges and threats.
The conference was attended by the Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS R.Mirzayev, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov, Head of the CIS ATC Evgeniy Sysoev, diplomats, experts, representatives of scientific and political circles of various countries.
SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming in his video message noted that the Organization, a responsible and influential international player in maintaining peace, stability and development, is taking and will continue to take all necessary measures to combat modern challenges and threats to ensure regional security. “At the same time, we proceed from the principle of non-targeting of the Organization against other countries or international organizations, as well as open and broad interaction with them based on the UN Charter, the SCO Charter and by the norms of international law”, Zhang Ming noted.
Since 2013, the SCO RATS Scientific-Practical Conference has been held annually in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, to solve the most urgent tasks in countering the challenges of international terrorism.
