Seoul hosts the 11th meeting of Uzbekistan – Korean IGC on Trade and Economic Cooperation

The 11th meeting of Uzbekistan – Korean Intergovernmental Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Seoul under the co-chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea Moon Sung-wook.

According to Uzbekistan MIFT, the event was attended by the heads of key ministries, agencies, specialized agencies and industry associations of the two countries.

At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, industry, agriculture, infrastructure development, energy, information and communication industry and healthcare.

Several proposals were put forward and comprehensively considered on further expansion of investment cooperation, acceleration of the elaboration of the draft Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, intensification of interaction in the field of consultations on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, cooperation in the field of quarantine of agricultural products, implementation of infrastructure and energy projects, the establishment of industrial cooperation, the introduction of innovative technologies in agriculture, healthcare and trade, the development of partnerships in the geological exploration, mining, metallurgy and the textile industry.
