Uzbekistan plans to ratify ILO Convention C155 – Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 1981.
This Convention applies to all workers working in sectors of economic activity to which its provisions apply.
This was discussed at a meeting of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism.
The Convention provides for further strengthening of requirements aimed at ensuring the safety and hygiene of work and the working environment. It aims to prevent accidents and damage to health resulting from, during, or related to work.
The ratification of the Convention will create a basis for further improvement of national legislation in the field and occupational safety and health rules defined by the ILO.
It will also help to effectively implement international standards aimed at preventing accidents during the production process, occupational diseases, and negative consequences that may occur during work.
