
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan within the framework of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
As noted, the agenda of the talks included current issues of bilateral partnership.
The course of implementation of the agreements reached the highest level was considered.
The main attention was paid to the coordination of efforts within the framework of international institutions, as well as in the format of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf – Central Asia. Mr. Norov congratulated the UAE on obtaining the status of a dialogue partner in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at the Samarkand SCO Summit.
Issues of further increasing mutual trade turnover, establishing air cargo transportation, and providing mutual benefits and preferences were discussed. Proposals were considered for organizing supplies from Uzbekistan to the UAE market of agricultural products, metallurgy, textiles, the provision of transport and consulting services.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan also met with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Alexander Schallenberg.
The positive dynamics of relations observed in recent years were noted with satisfaction. The parties expressed their readiness to intensify ties both on a bilateral basis and in the “Uzbekistan – Austria – EU” format.
An agreement was reached on thorough preparation for the upcoming contacts at various levels and formats.
It was noted that there are opportunities to attract direct Austrian investments in such sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan as hydropower, green technologies, agriculture and the building materials industry.
