The Law “On Plant Protection” has been developed in Uzbekistan to improve control of plant protection.
The document aims to improve the management system in plant protection, in which international rules are implemented into national legislation, and requirements are brought into line with international standards.
At a briefing at AIMC, the Head of the Information Service of the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sabina Sadinova, said that the new law consists of 6 chapters and 39 articles. 7 articles out of 128 were excluded from the previous law, corresponding amendments and additions were introduced to 221 articles, and 18 new articles were added.
The document makes it possible to ensure the cultivation of local plants and agricultural products of plant origin and to expand the country’s export potential further. The law has improved the legal basis for cooperation with competent authorities of foreign countries and international organizations in quarantine and plant protection.
The law enters into force in February 2024.
