The Scientific Research Institute of Standartization, Certification and Technical Regulation of Uzstandard Agency has developed a new Halal compliance certificate in order to expand the geography of countries into which the import of Uzbekistan's agricultural products is allowed.
According to S. Saidov, Head of the certification department of the institute, the new certificate will contribute to development of trade with Muslim countries, which require compliance with Halal standards. In addition, implementation of these standards will provide professional services to pilgrims traveling to Uzbekistan. Therefore, the Uzstandard agency, together with the local Muslim clergy at the Scientific Research Institute of Standartization, Certification and Technical Regulation, created a new body designed to certify agricultural and food products, hotel services.
Uzstandard Agency has been already accepting applications for Halal certificate.
Entrepreneurs wishing to obtain a certificate should consider that they will only have to produce halal products or completely separate their production lines.
Halal certificate of compliance will be issued for only one year, and all this time the company will be periodically inspected.
In November 2018, Uzstandard Agency became a member of Standards and Metrology Institute for the Islamic Countries (SMIIC). Thereby, the new standard will be considered valid in all 38 SMIIC member countries.
