ADB to support PPP project for construction of a photovoltaic station

On August 16, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on provision of advisory services with the Asian Development Bank on a project for construction of a number of photovoltaic stations with a total capacity of up to 1000 MW under public-private partnership (PPP) conditions.

The estimated cost of the project, which will be implemented in Sherabad district of Surkhandarya region, is 800 million US dollars.
ADB will act as a consultant, organize the preparation of the Project Concept, financial model, project appraisal document, the agreement on the purchase of electric energy and will provide a number of other services.
As reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it is planned to organize an international tender.
The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Energy with the assistance and coordination of ADB, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the PPP Development Agency. It is planned to start the implementation of the project in 2021.
