As part of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, scheduled to take place in Samarkand from October 30 to November 13, the 14th UNESCO Youth Forum has commenced in the ancient and ever-young city.
This major international gathering, dedicated to the theme “Climate Action and Social Impacts, Particularly for Young People”, will be held on October 27-28 and is being organized in cooperation between UNESCO and the Government of Uzbekistan.
Within the event, a cultural tour of Samarkand and an interactive “Icebreaker” competition were organized for participants. In addition, a concert dedicated to the international art project “The Ship of Tolerance” was held at the initiative of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation. This project aims to unite children from different countries through art, promoting friendship, peace, and kindness.
Alongside young artists from Uzbekistan, talented youth from abroad also performed in the concert program. Musical compositions representing diverse nations and ethnicities were received with great interest by the forum participants. Most importantly, this project embodied the noble goal of fostering mutual solidarity.
The main events of the Forum will commence on October 27. During the opening ceremony, young participants will exchange views on youth-led climate initiatives, innovative solutions, and their roles in global climate policy.
The agenda includes speeches by the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and youth climate leaders from Nigeria, Egypt, Spain, Bolivia, and Brazil.
