Athens hosted the U17 World Wrestling Championships. According to the results, the Uzbekistan national team won 5 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal.

In the freestyle wrestling, Abdumalik Jaloliddinov and Ulugbek Rashidov became silver medalists, while Mirjalol Mukammilov became the bronze medalist.

In the Greco-Roman wrestling, Uzbekistan’s Bunyod Khasanov, Abdulaziz Kholmirzayev, Otabek Tursunov, and Bekhruzbek Valiyev became world champions in their weight categories. Thus, the Uzbekistan national team took second place in the team events.

In the women’s wrestling, Shokhista Shonazarova (-40 kg) from Uzbekistan defeated all her rivals and became the world champion in this age category. Muhayyo Rahimjonova was awarded a silver medal.
