Tashkent hosts the 8th World Cotton Research Conference (WCRC-8).

The consistent reforms in Uzbekistan’s agriculture were noted, particularly in cotton growing and processing. The state order for cotton has been canceled, the principle of the free market has been changed, and the cluster system is gradually developing. All this is evidenced by the fact that Uzbekistan is hosting such a prestigious conference for the first time, within the framework of which several important events are planned.

“In 1998, our country became a member of the International Cotton Advisory Committee, a large organization that monitors cotton production worldwide”, says the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov. “In recent years, special attention has been paid to the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the field. The best practices in this area are studied and analyzed. Advanced scientists from all over the world are involved, and new methods are being tested. Within the framework of the event, it has become a tradition to award specialists who have made a worthy contribution to the development of cotton growing. For example, the Researcher of the Year award is presented on the recommendation of the expert council. Two scientists were awarded at today’s event. It is noteworthy that representatives of Uzbekistan have also received such an award”.

According to the WCRC-8 program, reports by famous scientists and specialists in cotton growing and processing, textile areas will be heard, and panel discussions are also planned.

The latest achievements in cotton and textile industry research in individual countries will be presented, and experience will be exchanged. Regional issues related to the negative impact of global climate change on cotton cultivation and the development of specific proposals and recommendations for solving the problem will be considered.

During special presentations, the latest achievements and advanced technologies introduced in the field will be presented to the international community’s attention.

More than 430 foreign scientists, about 200 local scientists, and representatives of 177 cotton and textile clusters and enterprises gathered to participate in these events.

At the conference, experts will discuss important topics such as climate change, rational water use, and pest control and develop adaptive solutions for local conditions. Innovations in cotton cleaning and textile processing will also be introduced.
