In December 2013, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Resolution on Science, Technology, and Innovation for Sustainable Development.

The document acknowledges the equal and full access of women and girls of all ages to the achievements of science, technology, and innovation as a guarantee of gender equality.

Two years later, on December 22, 2015, the UN General Assembly declared February 11 the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This date is celebrated annually in Uzbekistan as well.

This year, in accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on February 3, the “Women Scientists – A Mirror of Society” Week will take place.

From February 10 to 15, scientific and practical conferences and events aimed at increasing women’s interest in science will be held in educational institutions and mahallas. In addition to women scientists, female students, and schoolgirls will also participate in these activities.

The first event will be the “Women, Business, and Innovation” forum at Tashkent State University of Economics. 

At the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the forum “The Role of Women Scientists of Uzbekistan on the International Stage” will be held. Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology will host the international forum “Engaging Women in STEAM: Achievements and Challenges”. Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies will organize the international forum “Sustainable Development: Inclusive Education and Women’s Initiatives”. Meanwhile, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan will hold an event on “The Role of Women in Science and Leadership”.

At the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries, an international conference titled “Stages of Development of Science, Technology, and Entrepreneurship in the Multinational New Uzbekistan” is planned. Tashkent State Technical University will also host the forum and exhibition “Women Engineers 2025”. 

At Tashkent University of Information Technologies, a forum and exhibition on “The Role of Women in Information Technologies” will take place. The University of World Economy and Diplomacy will hold a conference titled “Young Women Scientists of Uzbekistan – Creators of the Third Renaissance”. Meanwhile, the Tashkent branch of the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia will host the event “Global Women’s Lunch”.
