This year marked a significant expansion of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy geography: diplomatic relations were established with eight countries across Africa, Oceania, and the Caribbean.
In particular, diplomatic relations were established with the Federal Republic of Somalia (February 22), the Republic of Mozambique (June 21), Eritrea (July 10), the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (September 29), and Kenya (September 20), located on the African continent. These steps confirm the consistent implementation of our country’s foreign policy strategy to intensify political dialogue with African countries and steadily deepen trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation.
The establishment of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nauru (March 20) and Palau (September 26), both in Oceania, also reflects the expansion of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy geography. Relations with these geographically distant countries are of great importance for mutual support and the promotion of joint initiatives within international organizations, especially the United Nations.
In addition, the establishment of diplomatic relations with Saint Lucia (September 10) has further strengthened Uzbekistan’s access to the Caribbean and the American region. Such relations expand political dialogue on the international stage and provide a foundation for diversifying foreign economic ties, entering new markets, and enhancing the global standing of New Uzbekistan.
