Voting began at 8:00 a.m. in Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region, as in all other parts of the country.

“Intensive preparations were carried out for the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Local Councils in our region”, says Zebuniso Alimardonova, Chairman of the election commission of Surkhandarya region. “1 million 442 thousand 512 voters are registered in Surkhandarya region, and today they are exercising their constitutional rights. 33,867 of those registered are young people participating in the election for the first time”.

Surkhandarya residents also show their activity in the elections organized according to the new Election Code. Polling station 865, located in the Youth Center of Termiz, was crowded with voters from early morning. The national anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan was played. Chairman of the precinct election commission U. Mirzaqulova announced that the voting had started.

2 thousand 880 voters were registered in this precinct of the “Shodlik” mahalla citizens’ assembly. Necessary measures were taken to hold elections at a high level in the polling station. In particular, polling stations were equipped based on established requirements. All conditions and facilities are available for voters.

A separate place is reserved for observers, authorized representatives of political parties, and journalists.
