Uzbekistan, located in the heart of Central Asia, plays a significant role in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which was established in 2001.

The SCO is a regional intergovernmental organization that aims to promote peace, security, and economic cooperation among its member states. With its strategic location and rich cultural heritage, Uzbekistan contributes uniquely to the objectives and initiatives of the SCO.

One of Uzbekistan’s primary contributions to the SCO is its commitment to regional stability and security. As a member state, Uzbekistan actively participates in various cooperative measures aimed at combating terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking. 

In recent years, Uzbekistan has stepped into a more proactive role within the SCO framework. Under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s leadership, there has been a renewed focus on diplomacy and multilateral cooperation. This approach has not only elevated Uzbekistan’s standing within the SCO but also positioned it as a key mediator in regional conflicts.
