A regional conference on “Strengthening national and international cooperation in combating human trafficking” was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The event was attended by Odiljon Mamatkarimov, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Affairs, Foreign Investments, and Tourism.

The participants discussed human trafficking as a complex socio-legal issue and its links to transnational organized crime. Participants exchanged views on the regional situation, the measures being implemented, and the importance of international cooperation and joint solutions.
In his speech, Mr. Mamatkarimov provided detailed information on the systemic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan to combat human trafficking. He noted, in particular, that the legislative framework in this area has been improved, criminal liability has been strengthened, and a national system for identifying victims of this crime has been introduced.
It was emphasized that the work of the National Commission under the leadership of the Senate Chairperson, the establishment of the institution of the National Rapporteur, the implementation of international conventions, and the strengthening of regional cooperation are all contributing to positive outcomes. The Bukhara Declaration and the regular conferences held on its basis were recognized as one of the most effective platforms in this field.
Following the conference, specific objectives were set to enhance regional cooperation in combating human trafficking, exchange information and experience, and develop practical recommendations.
