Uzbekistan’s experience is presented at the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights

The Uzbekistan delegation participated in the 14th Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights, held in Geneva. The event is organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

According to the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the forum brought together over 1,200 participants, including representatives of international organizations, government agencies, national human rights institutions, the scientific and expert community, business circles, and non-governmental organizations.

The Uzbekistan delegation, led by Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Human Rights Centre, participated in a special panel session titled “Preserving achievements in business and human rights in Central, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia amid political crisis”.

Current challenges in human rights in the context of geopolitical instability and the transformation of corporate responsibility mechanisms were discussed during the session.

In his speech, A. Saidov presented Uzbekistan’s national experience in integrating human rights standards into the business environment, as well as the measures being implemented under the national human rights strategy. Particular attention was paid to fostering a culture of respect for human rights in business, developing dialogue between the public and private sectors, training personnel, and improving the legal literacy of entrepreneurs.

Experts’ presentations reaffirmed the need to maintain the progress made in human rights and to expand international cooperation, while taking current challenges into account.
