The Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan has been awarded one of Europe’s prestigious awards – Prix Avicenne 2025.

According to the Center, the award ceremony took place at the National Academy of Medicine of France. It was attended by leading scholars, medical historians, Orientalists, experts on Islamic heritage, and representatives of several European institutions.

During the event, it was announced that the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan would receive a commemorative statuette of the great Avicenna and a laureate diploma.

Representatives of the French academic community noted that the Center’s activities, established on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, have become a vivid example of a modern approach to studying the heritage of Ibn Sina, one of the most outstanding scholars in the history of humanity. Members of the Academy emphasized that Uzbekistan not only treats its cultural and scientific past with great care, but also makes a significant contribution to global humanitarian scholarship by promoting large-scale projects, new research standards, restoration, cataloguing, and the popularization of the intellectual legacy of Islam.

According to French scholars, the exhibition created at the Center elevates the study and research of Avicenna’s heritage to a new level, making Uzbekistan a leading platform in this field.

“This award is yet another vivid confirmation of the international recognition of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s multifaceted work”, said Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization and Chairman of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan. “Prix Avicenne is a mark of profound respect and a well-deserved acknowledgment of the efforts of hundreds of domestic and foreign scholars, researchers, translators, and experts who shape the academic and educational foundation of the Center. We will continue to expand international research, strengthen scholarly partnerships, and further our work dedicated to the legacy of Avicenna and all the great thinkers of our country”.

The Prix Avicenne award, established by leading French scientific organizations, is conferred for significant achievements in the humanities and natural sciences, as well as for contributions to the preservation and promotion of historical and scientific heritage.
