
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Spain Farrukh Tursunov, also accredited to Andorra, presented copies of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Andorra, Imma Tor Faus.
The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation between their countries at the meeting.
Minister Faus highly praised Uzbekistan’s recent reforms, emphasizing that Uzbekistan has become a key driver making a significant contribution to the development of Central Asia.
Special attention was given to Uzbekistan’s active dialogue with Afghanistan, including the country’s practical assistance in providing humanitarian and social support, protecting women’s rights, and organizing educational programs for Afghan youth.
The minister also emphasized the importance of Uzbekistan’s initiatives within international organizations, particularly in environmental and climate change issues.
Imma Tor Faus noted that appointing Uzbekistan’s first Ambassador to Andorra would strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including trade and economic relations, and supporting areas such as tourism, particularly mountain tourism.
Following the meeting, the Foreign Minister confirmed Andorra’s readiness to send high-level representatives to upcoming international events in Uzbekistan, such as sessions of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and UNESCO. Additionally, she expressed her intention to visit Uzbekistan in the near future.
