Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO to accelerate

Uzbekistan is taking consistent measures to accelerate the country’s accession to the World Trade Organization.

As a result of adopting 28 regulatory and legal acts in 2025, 59 documents were brought into compliance with WTO agreements, bringing the total to more than 160.

These figures were announced at a meeting between Suma Chakrabarti, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Economic Development, Good Governance and International Cooperation, and Akbar Tashkulov, Minister of Justice.

The parties discussed aligning national legislation with the rules and standards of the World Trade Organization, simplifying and digitalizing public services, and making them more people-centered within the framework of the “Elimination of Bureaucracy” program, as well as establishing a court for the International Digital Technology Center.

The Minister of Justice noted the reforms the ministry is carrying out in this area. In particular, it was emphasized that bureaucratic barriers are steadily being reduced through the modernization and digitalization of public services.

Following the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation within the International Digital Technology Center’s activities, which operate under a special legal regime.
