Uzbekistan – United Arab Emirates: Economic cooperation plans are considered
Tashkent hosted a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission between Uzbekistan and the UAE on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.
On March 12, Tashkent hosted a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission between Uzbekistan and the UAE on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.
The event was attended by heads of ministries, agencies and companies responsible for foreign economic relations, economy, trade, industry, investment, tourism, oil and gas, transport, energy, construction and agriculture.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiyev, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori and others noted that cooperation between the two countries is consistently developing in all spheres.
A proposal was made to continue cooperation in trade in new areas. The Uzbek side announced its readiness to open its trading house in Dubai with the aim of further developing mutual trade relations.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on the current state of bilateral cooperation, prospects for development of a strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates. Plans were approved on agreements signed within the framework of the business forum with participation of business circles of the two countries, held in October 2018 in Tashkent.
At the event, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori emphasized that intensification of visits at various levels serves to further develop bilateral partnership. He also made a proposal on development of a roadmap for development of relations in trade, economic and investment spheres.
At the meeting, the guests were informed about the tourism potential of Uzbekistan, the economic opportunities of the city of Tashkent. Investment projects of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development in Uzbekistan were discussed.
This fund plans to establish joint investment companies, develop the infrastructure of the city of Samarkand, invest in the activities of hotels and shopping centers. It is planned to develop promising programs in agriculture of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, issues of cooperation with Mubadala company of the United Arab Emirates in the field of hydrocarbon production in Uzbekistan, continuing expert consultations between the JSC Uzbekneftegaz and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, identifying new opportunities in expanding the geography of air travel were also considered.
