The Minister of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan Ibrahim Abdurahmanov visited Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Several agreements were reached during the visit.
Mr. Abdurahmanov met with Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia. The parties discussed issues of implementing joint projects on the development of information technologies and artificial intelligence.
At the meeting with the Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, the sides discussed issues of studying the experience of the Kingdom, exchanging students and integrating innovative technologies into education and the application of this experience in Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia will consider the allocation of separate quotas for studying bachelor’s, master's and doctoral degrees for Uzbekistan youth in engineering.
A meeting was also held with Mounir El Desouki, President of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. The parties discussed conducting joint scientific projects in alternative energy, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, mathematics and physics, and involving young scientists in research in advanced centers of the KACST.
Talks were held with Einas bint Suleiman bin Mohammed Al-Eisa, Rector of Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Yamani, President of Prince Sultan University. The parties agreed to organize an internship program for young scientists of Uzbekistan.
An agreement was also reached on establishing direct cooperation between Prince Sultan University and Gulistan State University in food security, artificial intelligence and alternative energy.
During the visit, Uzbekistan delegation also reached agreements on the organization of training programs for 20 young Uzbekistan scientists in leading universities and scientific centers of the Kingdom every year, establishing a Scientific Center of Saudi Arabia in Uzbekistan, participation of Saudi representatives in InnoWeek.uz 2022 in October, organization of Uzbekistan – Saudi Arabia Scientific Forum, and online training programs for advanced training of vice-rectors responsible for innovation in higher education institutions of Uzbekistan, and others.
The parties noted the importance of attracting Saudi scientists to research historical and unique manuscripts stored in Uzbekistan libraries.
