On the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, significant efforts are being made to promote the country’s national cultural heritage abroad, strengthen international cooperation, and develop contemporary art and architecture.

Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation delegation participated in the prestigious German Design Award 2025 ceremony. During the event, Uzbekistan’s pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, designed by Atelier Brückner, received the gold award in the “Excellent Architecture – Fairs and Exhibitions” category. Named the “Garden of Knowledge”, the pavilion embodies Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage and commitment to sustainable development. This recognition highlights the project’s outstanding architectural and conceptual level, emphasizing the country’s growing influence in the global architecture and design community.

Chairperson of the Art and Culture Development Foundation and Commissioner of the Pavilion, Gayane Umerova, emphasized that Uzbekistan has long been at the crossroads of ancient civilizations, where scientific and cultural knowledge flourished thanks to the Great Silk Road. The pavilion symbolizes the country’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, reflecting ACDF’s focus on making a long-term contribution to cultural development locally and globally. The internationally recognized architectural achievement – the gold award at the German Design Award – also underscores Uzbekistan’s dedication to heritage preservation, forward-thinking design, and expanding international dialogue.

As part of the Uzbekistan National Pavilion’s activities at Expo 2025 in Japan, a series of vibrant events will showcase the country’s rich culture, arts, and scientific initiatives. One of the key highlights will be a concert by the Uzbekistan National Symphony Orchestra featuring the Richter Trio, set to take place in the Expo Hall before an audience of thousands.

An inspiring discussion on creative collaborations and sustainable development is also expected, highlighting how art becomes a driver of change, using the Bukhara Biennial as an example.

The National Day of Uzbekistan will truly celebrate traditions, featuring a solemn flag-raising ceremony, an exquisite luncheon, and performances by the creative ensembles “Bahor” and “Jazzirama”.

A crucial environmental theme – the revival of biodiversity – will also be in focus. The experience of restoring the Aral Sea region will be presented as part of a global journey toward harmony with nature.

Uzbekistan’s National Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka is a unique project that bridges the past and the future, tradition, and innovation, offering visitors unforgettable experiences and inspiration.
