Uzbekistan, OIC strengthen cooperation

As previously reported, on October 7-8, Tashkent will host the 6th International Seminar of the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission on “Importance of promoting and protecting the rights of youth for building peaceful and democratic societies and sustainable development”.
Uzbekistan is one of the most active members of the main organizer of the seminar – the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Uzbekistan signed the new OIC Charter on December 14, 2015. The Charter was ratified by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in April 2016.
The official delegations of Uzbekistan regularly attend the OIC summits and annual sessions of the meeting of foreign ministers of OIC member states.
Recently, cooperation of Uzbekistan with OIC has become especially active and has risen to a new stage in relations.
Uzbekistan considers the OIC a prestigious and effective forum of the countries of the Islamic world that recognize the country’s sacred religion as a factor of peace and progress. Therefore, aspirations on development of relations with this organization are becoming consistent.
