Uzbekistan, Lithuania discuss cooperation prospects

Views were exchanged on the outcome of the trip of Valerijus Simulik to Uzbekistan in December 2019 as an international observer in the elections of deputies to the Oliy Majlis and local Councils, as well as prospects for further development of multifaceted Uzbekistan – Lithuanian relations were discussed.
The deputy positively assessed the high level of organization of the electoral process in Uzbekistan, which was held under the motto “New Uzbekistan – New Elections”. As it was emphasized, this assessment is based on the results of visits to 14 polling stations.
The parties noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in trade and education. It was noted that Lithuania is interested in building up a diplomatic and trade-investment presence in Uzbekistan and developing mutually beneficial partnership with Uzbekistan in a number of areas of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the saturation of the agenda of upcoming bilateral contacts, including through parliaments, as well as relevant universities and economic structures of Uzbekistan and Lithuania.
