Uzbekistan – Japan: Inter-parliamentary cooperation expands
Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations hosted a roundtable discussion on “Japanese experience of parliamentarism and cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in cultural-humanitarian sphere”.

The event, with participation of representatives of the “Oliy Majlis – Parliament of Japan” inter-parliamentary group, deputies, the representative office of Nagoya University in Uzbekistan, University of World Economy and Diplomacy and Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, focused on enhancing the inter-parliamentary dialogue between Uzbekistan and Japan, the prospects for development and strengthening cooperation mechanisms of members of parliament of the two countries.
It was noted that inter-parliamentary relations are an important component of interstate relations between Uzbekistan and Japan. The role of the Oliy Majlis in the life of the country and formation of statehood was highly appreciated.
It was emphasized that representatives of the Japanese parliament will take an active part as observers in the parliamentary elections to be held in Uzbekistan in December this year.
Views were also expressed on the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan in December this year. The upcoming visit will undoubtedly raise the existing fruitful relations to a higher level and will serve as the beginning of a new stage in interstate relations.
Experts spoke of the need for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the future, studying the reforms implemented in the national legislation of Japan, and the banking, financial, cultural and tourism opportunities of this country.
