Turkey’s tv100.com published an article by Turkish historian, Professor Ilber Ortayli “Don’t leave without seeing”.

The author writes about five cities of the world, which, in his opinion, a person should visit at least once.

This list includes Uzbekistan’s Samarkand and Bukhara.

The article notes that ancient Samarkand, which made an invaluable contribution to world civilization, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001. “The majestic buildings, museums, mosques and madrasahs of the city can amaze even the most sophisticated tourist”, the author writes. “Samarkand, which has been under the control of Persians, Arabs and Turkic tribes for thousands of years, is a kind of crossroads of diverse cultures”.

“There is a breath of history in every corner of Bukhara, one of the most important cultural centers of Uzbekistan. This ancient city, which is the most important center of Islam after Mecca and Jerusalem, enchants with its architectural structures, caravanserais, mosques and madrasahs”.

The author also recommends Florence, Rome and Jerusalem to travel.
