State Investment Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a regular meeting of Uzbekistan – Germany intergovernmental consultations on financial and technical cooperation.

It was attended by representatives of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, KfW, GIZ, ministries and agencies responsible for investment, banking and financial, agricultural sectors, as well as healthcare, education, ecology.

Results of cooperation, proposals for the project of further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany were discussed at the meeting.

As it was emphasized, in 2017, as a result of Uzbekistan – Germany intergovernmental negotiations and mutually beneficial cooperation, joint projects were implemented in the spheres of healthcare, sustainable economic development. In particular, 11.3 million euros were allocated within the framework of cooperation with the Government of Germany on the 4th stage of the program of improving healthcare for implementation of investment projects.

At the meeting, the German side noted that it is planned to allocate 26 million euros for implementation of new projects on ensuring stable economic growth in the country, development of healthcare and agriculture, in particular, for application of cotton growing technologies and financial support to farmers.

At the sessions that were held within the framework of the event, opportunities of GIZ were considered on cooperation in such regional projects as “Ensuring the rule of law for stable development of the economy in Central Asia”, “Vocational education in Central Asia”, “Simplifying trade procedures in Central Asia”, “Using stable and climate-resistant lands for economic development in Central Asia”.

Following the event, a protocol was signed.
