A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ahadbek Khaydarov, paid a working visit to Georgia.

According to the ministry, the visit included negotiations focused on fiscal and customs policy.

Members of the delegation met with Georgia’s Deputy Ministers of Finance Mamuka Baratashvili and Ekaterine Guntsadze, as well as with First Deputy Director of the Revenue Service Paata Kiladze. The sides exchanged views on tax and customs reforms implemented in Georgia, their medium- and long-term strategies, and the overall effectiveness of these reforms. The Uzbekistan delegation also studied Georgia’s experience in assessing tax and customs benefits, introducing digital technologies, improving the value-added tax system, applying risk-based control and audit methods, and implementing a single treasury account for tax and budget revenues. A comparative analysis was conducted on these issues regarding the reforms currently being implemented in Uzbekistan.

The delegation met with representatives of Georgia’s customs authorities to discuss recent reforms in customs administration, digitalization processes, border control, vehicle clearance procedures, risk management, and targeted inspection systems. The delegation also became acquainted with the operations of the Sadakhlo Customs Checkpoint and the Tbilisi Customs Clearance Zone.

Following the visit, an agreement was reached between the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and the relevant ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan to develop cooperation in fiscal policy formulation, macroeconomic forecasting, provision of public services to business entities, and the improvement of tax and customs administration.
