The Senate of the Oliy Majlis hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev with the delegation of the French Republic, led by the Special Representative for Economic Diplomacy in Central Asia, Pascal Lorot.

At the meeting, views were exchanged on economic issues and further development of bilateral relations.

It was emphasized that the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France in October last year and the agreements reached after the talks opened up new opportunities for development of Uzbekistan – France relations, including deepening economic and investment ties.

At the same time, this visit not only strengthened the friendly ties between the two countries, but also brought partnership to a qualitatively new level.

At the meeting, it was noted that France is one of the first political and economic European partners of Uzbekistan. Currently, as part of implementation of the agreements reached during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to France, comprehensive work is being carried out to attract financial and technical assistance, as well as foreign direct investment in development of socio-economic infrastructure of the country.

Projects on improvement of the urban heating system, as well as development of hydropower plants in Uzbekistan, financing projects in the private sector were also identified as important areas of cooperation.

At the meeting, the parties noted the steady positive dynamics of bilateral economic ties, which fully meets the interests of the two states.

The parties also discussed other issues of mutual economic interest.
