Peking University is one of the oldest and largest higher education institutions in China and one of the 20 leading universities in the world. This university is an advanced center where scientific research is carried out and discoveries are made.

First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Komiljon Karimov met with the Communist Party Secretary of Peking University Hao Ping. The parties focused on strengthening and enhancing cooperation in higher education.

Mr. Karimov noted that due to the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan over the past six years, the number of branches of foreign higher education institutions in Uzbekistan has exceeded 30. Such practice has yielded positive results and contributes to training qualified personnel. He put forward a proposal to open a branch of Peking University in Uzbekistan.

Hao Ping noted that Peking University does not yet have branches abroad. He focused on the possibilities of introducing this practice in Uzbekistan, noting that the Uzbek mathematical school has excellent authority in the world scientific community. He put forward a proposal to create an International Central Asian Mathematical Center. Hao Ping also stressed that considering the shortage of personnel in the real sector of the economy, the opening of the Uzbekistan–China Engineering School will also serve the development of the economies of the two countries.

Mr. Karimov supported the proposals of the host party and expressed his opinion on establishing an Uzbek Language Center at Peking University.  Philologists and teachers will be invited to this center.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on jointly implementing mutually beneficial projects.
