The delegation of the Brest region of the Republic of Belarus visited Bukhara.

The delegation members got familiarized with the activities of the Siyovush Textile Bukhara company operating in Kagan district on the territory of Gijduvan FEZ, Bukhara Cotton Textile and Bukhara Agro Cluster DZZ in Bukhara city, Bukhara-Varnet in Bukhara district, as well as Bukhara Regional Multidisciplinary Medical Center.

Bukhara region’s Hokim Botir Zaripov received the delegation members. At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the region noted with satisfaction that a new page had opened in the history of friendship and partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus. He noted that the signing of an agreement on cooperation in trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural-humanitarian spheres between Bukhara region’s Hokimiyat and Brest Regional Executive Committee during the historic visit significantly intensified relations between the regions.

The mutual foreign trade turnover between Bukhara region and Belarus in 2023 reached $9.4 million, in particular, the volume of exports amounted to $2 million, and the volume of imports amounted to $9.1 million. Compared to the same period in 2022, it increased by 112 percent. It is planned to increase foreign trade turnover to $1 billion.

The current state of bilateral trade-economic partnership and current issues of cooperation development were discussed at the event.

The parties also considered the possibilities of strengthening investment, socio-economic cooperation, and deepening relations between the two regions.

Botir Zaripov noted that Bukhara region’s Hokimiyat is ready to fully support all initiatives aimed at developing trade-economic, investment, tourism, scientific-technical, cultural-humanitarian, as well as educational and sports ties between Bukhara and Brest regions.

In turn, Deputy Chairperson of the Brest Region Executive Committee Dmitry Gorodetsky expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. He also stressed that mutually beneficial cooperation plays a vital role in preserving the traditions of friendship and harmony and that the Brest region is interested in further development of multifaceted cooperation.

The parties agreed to continue working on current issues of partnership.

Following the meeting, an agreement in the trade-economic, investment, and medical spheres and a Memorandum of Cooperation between the cities of Bukhara and Brest were signed.
