Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ilhom Khaydarov held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Trade of Türkiye Mustafa Tuzcu, during which the current state and prospects of trade, economic, and investment cooperation were discussed in detail, as well as issues related to expanding the list of goods under the preferential trade agreement between the two countries.
During the talks, it was noted that the volume of mutual trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Türkiye amounted to $2.4 billion. The parties emphasized the need to employ all possible measures to increase this figure to $5 billion.
In particular, Deputy Minister of Trade of Türkiye Mustafa Tuzcu noted that there are significant reserves and new opportunities to achieve the set goals. According to him, the foreign trade commodity structures of Uzbekistan and Türkiye are broadly similar, and the products manufactured in both countries are highly competitive in international markets.
Following the meeting, the Turkish side noted its substantial experience in developing and implementing preferential and free trade agreements and expressed readiness to cooperate in this area by enhancing institutional capacity, developing professional qualifications of specialists, and providing methodological support.
