A delegation led by the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, Akmal Burkhanov, held a meeting in Kuala Lumpur with representatives of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The discussions focused on further strengthening cooperation between agencies responsible for combating corruption and expanding practical ties in this field.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Dato’ Sri Haji Azam bin Baki, as well as the head of the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Academy, Saiful Ezral Ariffin.

New areas of collaboration were discussed, including organizing joint initiatives for public oversight and investigative journalism – both of which serve as effective corruption prevention measures. Additionally, discussions covered the enhancement of Uzbekistan’s National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2030, incorporating proposals and recommendations from Malaysian experts and preliminary inquiries, investigations, and data collection methods for law enforcement officers handling corruption cases. Training programs on identifying and mitigating corruption risks in public procurement processes were also part of the agenda.

The Malaysian side invited representatives from Uzbekistan to participate in the international conference “Integrity and Corporate Governance”, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in July this year.

Following the meeting, the Action Plan for 2025-2026 was signed between Uzbekistan’s Anti-Corruption Agency and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

An agreement was reached to accelerate work on the areas of cooperation discussed.
