Uzbekistan and Indonesia strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation
A delegation, led by Ahmad Muzani, the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan during the official trip to Uzbekistan.
Issues of strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Indonesia, elevating inter-parliamentary cooperation, and expanding multifaceted ties between the two countries were discussed in detail during the meeting with the Chairperson of the Senate, Tanzila Narbayeva.
Issues of institutional development for interparliamentary cooperation became one of the main topics of the meetings. In particular, an agreement was reached to intensify the activities of interparliamentary cooperation groups, develop joint documents on cooperation, organize interparliamentary forums, and implement scientific and educational projects devoted to the study of Islamic civilization and its rich heritage.

A. Muzani highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s large-scale reforms, landscaping activities, and open and constructive foreign policy, as well as the efforts to preserve and popularize the heritage of Islamic civilization carried out in New Uzbekistan.
During the talks, it was noted that the trust-based and active political dialogue between the two heads of state had elevated trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and interparliamentary cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
The parties exchanged views on priority areas, including expediting negotiations on a free trade agreement, mutual recognition of halal certificates, and expanding agricultural exports.

The need to develop interregional partnerships, expand cooperation in tourism, especially pilgrimage, further simplify visa procedures, strengthen academic ties between higher education institutions, and consistently continue joint cultural-humanitarian projects was emphasized.
Ahmad Muzani left a record in the Book of Honorary Guests of the Senate, stressing the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation.
