On 2-3 March, the ISRS Director Eldor Aripov held several meetings with experts of India’s leading analytical centers as part of the Raisina Dialogue 2023, in New Delhi.

Talks were held with the leadership of the Vivekananda International Foundation, the United Service Institution, the Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA), the Indian Council of World Affairs, as well as Delhi Policy Group experts.

Indian experts were informed about the large-scale transformations, the essence and meaning of the constitutional reform carried out in Uzbekistan and the country’s vision on the current global and regional issues.

The main attention was paid to the prospects for developing bilateral relations. It was emphasized that in recent years, the cooperation between Uzbekistan and India has acquired a dynamic, multifaceted, and long-term nature.

Representatives of the leading Indian think tanks praised the large-scale reforms held under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in New Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the liberalization of the economy and the created favorable investment climate open up great opportunities to expand the presence of Indian business in the Uzbekistan market.

This is evidenced by the deepening of trade and investment relations that develop along the ascending trajectory. For 11 months of 2022, the trade turnover grew by 44% and reached $627 million (2021 – $491 million). The parties plan to bring this figure to $1 billion in the coming years.

Since 2017, the number of joint ventures has increased by 5 times (372).

Joint investment projects worth more than $200 million are being implemented in IT, healthcare, agriculture, and tourism.

During the talks with Indian colleagues, views were exchanged on enhancing the collaboration of the ISRS with the scientific-academic and analytical centers of India. The importance of intensifying the expert interaction was noted to develop new ideas and proposals for further strengthening multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

The Raisina Dialogue conference is organized by the leading Indian research center in the global economy and international relations Observer Research Foundation in partnership with the Government and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

The event held since 2016 has established itself as one of the leading world dialogue platforms for the exchange of views between representatives of the political, diplomatic circles, and scientific-expert community.

This year, more than 20 Foreign Ministers took part in the forum, including France, Canada, Sweden, Türkiye, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Egypt, etc., as well as representatives of policy-forming and analytical circles from more than 100 countries. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the opening ceremony of the conference.
