A press tour was held in Tashkent in connection with the launch of the first-stage master’s program at the New Uzbekistan University and the continuation of its activities in a new campus.

The New Uzbekistan University is a higher education institution initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to provide the most talented youth with education based on global standards.

Since the 2023/2024 academic year, the university opened three years ago and has continued its activities in a new academic building with a capacity for 1200 students. Currently, about 700 students are enrolled here.

The academic building features classrooms for practical sessions equipped with iMac computers, state-of-the-art chemical and physical laboratories, a kitchen, interactive learning classrooms, and a library.

To further enhance the knowledge and skills of students in information technology, official centers of Apple and Huawei have been established. In these centers, additional courses are organized for students in the programming language SWIFT for Apple devices, and in the Huawei Academy, courses cover technical maintenance of devices running Android and other operating systems.

Students who complete the courses offered in these centers will receive an official certificate from the respective companies, providing them a professional advantage in the job placement.

The university offers bachelor’s programs in nine study areas, Chemical and Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Applied Mathematics, Economics and Data Science, Pedagogy, and Industrial Management.

As per admission requirements, applicants must have a certificate confirming their proficiency in English at a minimum level of B2, with IELTS – 5.5, CEFR – B2, and TOEFL iBT – 46. All study programs require passing an examination in mathematics and logical reasoning. Applicants who achieve high results in entrance exams are awarded annual grants of various sizes.

Moreover, five percent of students from specialized and creative schools under the Agency for Specialized Educational Institutions accepted for training based on the highest score, international Olympiad winners, and graduates of Presidential Schools are admitted based on a 4-year grant.

The university has organized a master’s program (double degree) with the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences of Germany in “Industrial Management – Innovation and Business Development”, which fully complies with European educational standards. Candidates wishing to apply for this master’s degree must have a certificate of English language proficiency (minimum 6 IELTS or 79 TOEFL scores) and undergo an interview.

The university offers young people classes with professors from prestigious higher education institutions in foreign countries, pays excellent attention to integrating education and science, and creates all the necessary opportunities and conditions for scientific research. For example, the Amudarya weather station, created by university professors, is currently actively used in more than 60 farms in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and several regions, performing tasks such as early study of climate change, measuring humidity, and determining air quality. We hope that the work of young university scientists to create alternative materials for solar panels and project research to convert salt water into drinking water will also give the expected positive results. For this purpose, extensive cooperation has been established with the University of Massachusetts in the United States and the Technical University of Munich in Germany.

With the question of whether it is challenging to study at a university where classes are conducted exclusively in English, we turned to one of the young people studying here.

“Of course, studying is not easy”, says Mukhiddin Abduazimov, a student at the Faculty of Computer Engineering. “The conditions and the opportunity to freely attend additional courses help”.

At a university that keeps up with the times, much attention is paid to organizing spiritual and enlightenment work.

“Twice a month, we visit the theaters of the capital, introducing students to new performances”, said the Vice-Rector of the higher education institution for youth affairs and spiritual-enlightenment issues, Ezozakhon Karimova. “Also, the university regularly organizes meetings with scientists, creative intelligentsia, and roundtable discussions. There is a special project in which students share their plans for the future. The student theater studio is preparing a stage program dedicated to our grandfathers’ life paths, activities, and struggles for good goals. Young people also actively participate in preparing newspaper articles about the daily life of the university”.

Today, the New Uzbekistan University has indeed become a place where the country’s youth actively strives.
