The Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Ulugbek Lapasov met with the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Natalia Kanem, in New York.

The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects for deepening interaction between Uzbekistan and UNFPA.

The head of UNFPA noted with satisfaction the accumulated rich experience of cooperation with Uzbekistan in empowering women and ensuring gender equality, demographic sustainability, and maternal health. She highly appreciated the success achieved by Uzbekistan in recent years in these areas.

The parties positively noted the results of the meeting of the National Agency for Social Protection leadership under the President of Uzbekistan at UNFPA in November this year in New York. The commitment to further development of cooperation within the framework of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the agency and UNFPA was confirmed.
