The world’s most talented young chemists gather in Tashkent
Today, the official opening ceremony of one of the world’s most prestigious academic competitions, the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO 2026), took place in Tashkent.

The opening ceremony at the Palace of International Forums was attended by Ilhom Sirajev, Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan for Education Reform, Minister of Preschool and School Education Ezoza Karimova, education officials, Olympiad participants, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from both domestic and international media.

The Olympiad, running from July 10 to 19, brings together about 1,000 students, team leaders, members of the international scientific committee, observers, and guests from more than 90 countries. This makes IChO 2026 not only one of the year’s largest educational Olympiads but also a global scientific platform that unites young scientists.
