The Central Election Commission has handed over signature sheet forms of the specified sample to authorized representatives of political parties to collect signatures of voters supporting a political party’s participation in the fall elections.

The procedure for collecting signatures is set out in Article 38 of the Election Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Thus, for the elections of deputies of the Legislative Chamber, the Central Election Commission issues signature sheet forms of the established sample to political parties. Voters can sign in support of one or more political parties. In doing so, the voter indicates his last name, first name, patronymic, year of birth (at the age of eighteen – additionally the day and month of birth), residential address, series and number of the passport or ID card, as well as the date of signature. Information about the voter who signed the signature sheet may, at his request, be entered by the person collecting signatures. The data is entered manually.

Political parties must collect signatures of at least 40 thousand voters. Signature collection is carried out at the place of work, service, study, residence, and election events, as well as in other areas where campaigning and signature collection are not prohibited by law. Any form of coercion and bribery of voters by the person collecting signatures entails liability established by law.

After the signature collection is over, the authorized representative of the political party submits to the Central Election Commission signature sheets stitched separately for the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions, and Tashkent.
The events to collect voters’ signatures that began today will continue throughout the country until August 15.
