As part of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, accompanied by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, visited the historical and architectural complex “Imaret” in the city of Aghdam.

The heads of delegations of the ECO member states also attended the event.

The city of Aghdam is located in western Azerbaijan, in Karabakh district. Since 2021, active reconstruction of the city’s infrastructure has been underway, with new schools, kindergartens, residential buildings, and government facilities being built.

The “Imaret” complex houses the palace and mausoleum of Panah Ali Khan, the founder of the Karabakh Khanate. In 2024, the complex was reopened following restoration works and archaeological research.

A Karabakh Horse Park and an interactive museum were also established here.

The leaders became familiar with the facilities created within the complex and the ongoing development efforts. They were presented with a vibrant show titled “Zafar” (“Victory”), featuring Karabakh horses and showcasing the rich culture and traditions of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region.
