According to the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, a study conducted in cooperation with the World Bank, based on international standards, revealed that the poverty rate in Uzbekistan decreased from 11% to 8.9% in 2024. This means that the number of people living below the poverty line has fallen to 3.3 million, a reduction of 719,000 compared to 2023.

The most significant decline in poverty levels was recorded in Bukhara region – from 11.8% to 8.7%, Samarkand region – from 10.5% to 7.5%, Namangan region – from 10.4% to 7.6%, Republic of Karakalpakstan – from 13.6% to 10.8%.

Measures implemented in 2024 to improve employment, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance the efficient use of land allocated for household and dehkan farming significantly contributed to the decline in poverty across the country. In 2024, real household incomes increased by 10.7%, averaging 2.1 million UZS per capita per month (compared to 1.7 million UZS at the beginning of the year). 

The structure of household income was as follows: 

Wages – 42.6% (41.9% in 2023), 

Entrepreneurial income – 22.9%, 

Pensions, social benefits, and subsidies – 18.2%,

Agricultural income – 10.7%, 

Remittances from abroad – 2.0%, 

Other income – 3.6%. 

Income from wages increased by 12.9% compared to 2023.
